Most people have busy schedules. From the moment they get out of bed, they are planning, they are moving, and they are trying to get themselves going. Unfortunately, in all of the hustle and bustle of daily life, it is easy to overlook the simple things that one needs to do in order to maintain high levels of energy and good health.
Many people find themselves looking for a quick energy boost by drinking more coffee or drinking a caffeinated soda. And while these methods will provide temporary results, they will also leave a person craving more caffeine or cause them to crash and leave them in a stupor, struggling to stay active.
The human body needs to have its energy reserves replenished regularly. In the same way that a houseplant that does not get water will eventually wither and die, humans will start to slow down and will eventually shut down if they are not given the nutrients and the rest needed to produce sufficient energy.
Contrary to what some might believe, it doesn’t take a lot of extra effort to stay healthy and full of energy. All it takes is a little bit of forethought and determination.
Fuel Your Body
Proper diet and exercise are key to keeping your body energized and nutrient full. This is especially important in the morning. What many people forget is that for the eight hours they’ve been sleeping, their body has been in starvation mode. In essence, their body has been in a fast until they break that fast with breakfast.
One of the reasons why it is important to eat a proper breakfast is that in the morning your body is pushing out tons of hormones designed to get you moving.
Exercise is another way for you to fuel your body. Research has shown that individuals who exercise three times a week in the morning have less fatigue than those who do nothing at all. Even if you’re not in the greatest shape, just getting up and taking a leisurely walk can go a long way in reducing fatigue, getting your body activated, and giving you the energy needed to make the most out of your day.
Out of the Darkness and into the Light
Proper sleep is an essential part of having high energy levels and maintaining good health. Good sleep is more than just getting the recommended six to eight hours. It also includes the quality of your mattress, the habits you have leading up to bedtime, and after the alarm goes off.
To get the most out of your sleep, it is recommended that you disconnect from screens one hour prior to going to bed. This gives your mind a chance to wind down and makes it easier for you to fall into a deeper level of sleep.
When your alarm goes off in the morning, avoid the temptation to hit the snooze bar. As mentioned earlier, when you wake up, your body is producing a ton of hormones designed to get you going. If you hit the snooze bar, you interrupt that hormone production, and this will often leave you more tired.
Finally, as soon as you wake up, let the light in. Open a window as this optimizes your body’s wake up process, giving you more energy through the day.
The better you take care of your body, the better it will take care of you. This means that you should schedule in time for things like massage therapy treatments even if it needs to be at home with use of a portable or stationary massage bed. Treatments like acupuncture, cranio sacral, and other holistic treatments that could improve your health and your well-being and give you that boost of energy you need throughout the day.
