Here are 6 practical health tips that you can follow in your daily life to improve physical, mental and social health.

  1. Manage Stress

Stress affects many people, and it can have a dire effect on your physical and mental health which can alter your lifestyle. Stress can invoke symptoms such as insomnia, weight loss or gain, digestive problems, heart disease, skin conditions such as eczema and depression, and anxiety.   1. Get Enough Exercise

Physical activity is an extremely important part of your life that you shouldn’t neglect. It helps to burn off extra calories, it’s great for the cardiovascular system, it maintains or increases muscle mass, improves mental health, and helps us focus. It’s recommended that around 20 minutes of moderate exercise a day (or around 150 minutes per week) to maintain a healthy mind and body. If you struggle for time but would like to incorporate more physical activity, then small changes in your day can make a huge difference! For example, taking a walk on your lunch, taking the stairs instead of an elevator or making the most of weekends for an activity.

  1. Drink Less Alcohol

If you notice you’re drinking too much, there are steps you can take to reduce this by keeping a diary of your drinking, setting a drinking goal, drink slowly, keep alcohol out of your house, and swapping alcohol for water.

It’s important to get a good balance of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains as well as 5 portions of vegetables a day to reduce the risk of these diseases and to give your mind and body the right fuel to function properly. By eating right, you’re not only ensuring your body is healthy, but you are also improving your concentration, decision making and your sleep pattern

By drinking water, you get a whole host of benefits such as getting certain minerals, preventing kidney damage, boosts performance during exercise, improves skin, weight loss, delivers oxygen throughout the body and so much more.

Not getting enough sleep increases your chance of dying by 30%! Getting enough sleep every night helps you function properly, be more productive, reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, decrease risk of depression and improves your immune function. And it’s proven that not getting enough sleep can increase your chance of dying by 30%! Time to get those winks in.
