Introduction to Testosterone

A human body is one of the most complex systems that has been designed in Mother Nature. It is not merely about a structure made up of bones, muscles, tissues, and organs. A human body is designed to do multiple different functions and the physical body parts are only able to function when they are facilitated by certain chemical reactions.

There are a number of chemical bodies such as enzymes and hormones that are produced in a human body to facilitate various body functions and your physiological body parts are largely dependent on these chemical bodies. One of the most important hormones in the human body is testosterone. Although it may be produced in both male and female bodies, testosterone is primarily a male sex hormone that not only facilitates reproductive functions but also plays a role in other sexual functions such as body hair, muscle, and bone mass growth.

Besides being a naturally produced hormone in a human body, there is also an anabolic steroid that goes by the name of testosterone. The drug takes its name from the hormone as it is meant to facilitate relevant body functions and makeup for the shortfalls of the natural testosterone levels in a human body.

As an anabolic steroid, it is a C class drug that can only be sold on prescription. It is used for various medical reasons such as backing up for of breast cancer among women. `Besides medical reasons, this drug is also known to be used by athletes and bodybuilders for stamina building, muscle recovery, and even performance enhancers.

Testosterone Propionate

Testosterone Propionate [go here] is an anabolic steroid that is injectable in muscles and is used to treat low testosterone levels along with other medical purposes. The drug was formulated in the early twentieth century and was meant to be used for treatments such as breast cancer, menopausal symptoms, low sexual desire etc.

Since testosterone-based steroids result in the hormone production that also facilitates muscle and bone mass growth, it is also widely used by athletes and bodybuilders as a performance enhancer. As a result, questions on the morality of consumption of this steroid have been raised time and again, due to the ethical dilemma attached to it. It is believed that the use of this steroid by athletes before tournaments amounts to cheating since they use the drug to increase performance levels beyond their capacity.

Side Effects of Testosterone Steroids

Since the said steroid is meant to produce the hormone artificially, it is important that it is taken in the right dosage following a strict steroid cycle as prescribed by a physician. Excessive intake of the drug may result in the rise in testosterone levels which can lead to severe side effects.
