Have you ever noticed that when you find yourself extremely busy and pulled in many directions at once, it’s far too often that it’s your personal health that has to take a backseat? It’s common to start skipping meals, relying on fast food rather than healthy choices, not getting enough sleep, and not making time for yourself to relax and socialise with those who are special to you.
For students who are busy attending acting school while juggling a personal life, and even a job at the same time, the idea of looking after their own personal health and well-being can seem rather far-fetched, but that doesn’t have to be the case. By following these simple tips you’ll still be able to get everything done that you need to, but in a way that also looks after your own needs and ensures your health stays a priority. Remember, without the proper nutrition, sleep, and balance in your life, you just won’t be able to perform as your best self.
Stop Relying on Fast Food
Yes, fast food is incredibly convenient, and as the name implies, it’s fast, but it’s never the best option nutrition wise. Even if you think you are picking the healthiest item on the menu, it’s still not as good as a meal you’d make at home. A good tip is to get into the habit of doing meal prep all at once, and then cooking a few different meals in advance. Many meals can be stored safely in the freezer and taken out to defrost the night before or day of.
When you start doing your own meal prep and cooking, you’ll be able to include healthier ingredients and really tailor it to your needs.
Make Time for Exercise
Students don’t always have time for a gym membership, nor can they guarantee they will be able to work out five days a week without fail. Instead look for ways you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine. That could mean walking as much as possible, taking the stairs, using the treadmill or exercise bike while studying lines, etc. You don’t have to view it as a typical workout, the goal is to get active in any way you can.
Don’t Over-Extend Yourself
Another tip is to make sure you’re not over-extending yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of your future career in acting, and that excitement can grow as you look at courses from the most renowned acting school – The Performing Arts Conservatory, but you want to be careful not to over-exert yourself and take on too much at once. Spreading yourself thin means all areas will end up suffering.
Your Health is Important
Making the decision to look after yourself and make your health and personal well-being a priority is something that is wise to learn early on while you’re still a student, as it will help you throughout your entire life.
