Life has never been easy to celebrities as they are always in focus of media. This attention can be overwhelming but it can also affect you adversely which has happened with one of the stars of popular reality show “The Osbournes” i.e. Kelly Osbournes. This series is based on the domestic life of heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne and his family which included his wife Sharon and kids Kelly and Jack. Kelly Osbourne was 17 when this series was aired for the first time in 2002. She has been consistently criticized by the media mostly for her weight along with her wild child ways and drug addiction. According to her “I was called fat and ugly in the press almost my entire life,”
The constant criticism has negatively affected the pop singer at a great extent that she has ended up in a rehab centre for three times. As she admits in an interview “I understand that being judged by others comes with the territory, but it broke my heart and ruined my self-esteem. It sets you up to hate yourself in a huge way. I was so angry about the things people said about me. I truly believe it’s the main reason I turned to Vicodin and ended up in rehab three times. I just hated myself.”
Kelly’s weight loss journey was not easy as she was constantly dealing with emotional stress and fluctuating weight. But she didn’t give up and tried hard to get a perfect bikini body. Here we are listing the things which she has admitted that makes her gain weight and the things which make her lose the weight as she has mentioned in an interview of SHAPE magazine.
Here we have used the excerpts of her interview to provide her views towards weight loss.
When Kelly has stepped out of the Oregon’s Hazelden Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center in early 2009, she was dealing with confidence issues as media has already targeted her for her drug addiction and weight issue. She blames her emotional ways for weight gain because according to her “I’m an emotional eater. When I get upset, my diet goes out the window.” She also adds “I replaced the drugs with food and just got fatter and fatter,” she became aware about her bad eating habits during the show Dancing with the stars and she has mentioned the reason by saying “I’d fill up on French fries and pizza all day and wonder why I wasn’t losing weight. In the very beginning, I kept getting sick during rehearsals because I was eating such terrible, fatty food and feeling so exhausted.”
Her dance partner on the show Louis Van Amstel has taught her about nutrition and benefits of it. She says “He made me eat turkey burgers and salads and explained to me that a high-protein, low-carb diet would keep me energized,” She further adds “Then I started losing weight and realized, ‘Oh, it’s true what they say: Diet and exercise really work!'”

She has lost 20 pounds during the show but after that she has regained the 3 – 4 pounds of lost weight. She didn’t like the fluctuations of her weight then she has decided to hire a personal trainer to get fit.
It is easy to criticize or hate something and whether we admit it or not if we are overweight then we started disliking our body. Same thing happens with Kelly as well which she has mentioned in her statement “I would look at myself and think, ‘Ugh!’ I was miserable. To get to the gym—when you already don’t like yourself—is really hard. So I had to make it fun. I started wearing cute outfits and putting on a little bit of makeup. And as vain as it sounds, it really helped me because eventually I stopped hating the way I looked.” So this is the advice from Kelly that start loving yourself and you will feel motivated.
Do it correctly
Kelly has dropped 50 pounds till 2010 and she feels very emotional about it by saying “I never thought in a million years I’d be that healthy girl who wakes up every morning to exercise. After being called ‘cherubic and chubby,’ I’m rocking a bikini! I feel silly, but I think I’m going to cry. Being on the cover of SHAPE is the biggest victory I could ever hope for.” She has worked very hard to lose the unwanted weight and changed her unhealthy eating habits. She has admitted that she used to eat snacks and drink soda all day. But she has finally learnt the healthy lesson which is reflected by her reply to the interviewer “I indulge with pizza and cheese—I love Brie—and have cookies sometimes,” she admits. “But now, when I’m full? I stop eating! It may have taken me 26 years to figure it out, but I’ve finally learned how to do it right.”
Take professional help
She has started her weight loss journey in 2009 and hired personal trainer Sarah to achieve her goal. It was a wise decision of hiring a professional help as she follows her each step and corrected any mistakes done by Kelly. Sarah has designed a workout schedule which has perfectly complimented her diet. She has taught Kelly various weight loss practices such as Bosu, power plate, interesting and useful cardio exercises. She has lost up to 70 pounds till year 2015 and she was recommended by her personal trainer that if she wants to maintain her achieved bikini body then she must do warm, yoga for 15 minutes, jogging etc. Kelly also used to do mix of squats, planks, pushups, cross training, exercise bikes etc. to maintain her beautiful and sculpted body after losing oodles of weight.
Well planned diet
Kelly has followed a special diet to yield more benefit from the exercise. Her diet contained a combination of vitamins, minerals, protein and carbs. She has revealed in her interview that her diet was not too restricted as people thinks. According to her if you eat normal and healthy food along with adequate exercise session then you can achieve a slim and sexy figure.
She takes a heavy breakfast as this is the most important meal of the day and keeps you active during work day. She admitted that sometimes she has tried the reverse diet means she has eaten pizza in breakfast, light portion of food such as fish or salad in lunch and oatmeal in dinner. She also used to have cheat meals time to time and allowed herself some fast food. But she has totally avoided wrong foods and unhealthy eating.
Golden rules of weight loss by Kelly Osbourne
Rule 1 – Never skip breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day.
Rule 2 – drink at least six to eight glasses of water
Rule 3 – eat only when you feel hungry and not because it is lunch time or dinner time.
