A Guide to Remove Permanent Hair color

If you have opted for permanent hair color but things didn’t go as you wished and now you are stuck with an undesired color then here are some solutions to fix your permanent hair color problem.

Dye it black

If you have wasted 3 – 4 days in searching for the right solution to fix your messy situation then there is slim chance left to get your original hair color back. You can disguise your current hair color by dyeing it to black color and get it done by a professional who can protect your hair from further damage.

Take a step as soon as possible

Permanent hair color takes 2 – 3 days to settle down inside the cuticle and if you try to remove the color in the first three days after coloring session then you can succeed. Talk to a professional as soon as possible if anything goes wrong with your hair color or if you are not happy with the result so it can be removed easily without any complications.

L’Oreal hair color remover

There are many color removing products offered by L’Oreal. The L’Oreal Paris Colorist Secrets Hair color Remover removes the permanent color and salon formulas as it contains peroxide. Effasol and Color Zap remove the tint from hair and make your hair ready for new color.

Color Oops

It is an ammonia and bleach free product and restores your natural hair color except in one condition which is if you have lightened your natural hair color then it would not be able to bring your natural color back. The soy protein and Aloe Vera component of this product condition your hair and make it soft. It also prepares your hair for new hair color which you can apply on the same day.

Vanish color corrector

This works well in removing colors especially black and it is a product for professionals only and not sold at beauty stores. To use this corrector you have to first wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo while rubbing the hair between your hands. In this way the pigments will get loosen up. The more times you rub hair, the better. Comb your hair after washing.

Take the vanish corrector. It has two applications based on length of the hair. Mix the content of bottle 1 and 2 in 1:1 proportion and apply on your hair with the help of a brush or sponge evenly. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and put on a heat cap and in case you don’t have one then you can provide heat to your hair with the blow dryer occasionally. Rinse your hair with water after wash your hair with shampoo while scrubbing it with hands. Apply a 10 volume developer to your hair and leave it for 10 minutes. It will bring out any hidden pigment left in the hair. Rinse your hair after 10 minutes and then apply pH balancing conditioner and leave your hair for another 10 minutes or more. Rinse it with water and see if your color has removed completely or not. If your color has lightened but the color has not completely removed then you have to repeat the process. You can do it immediately or after sometime.


It should be considered as the last option because it can damage your hair and make it brittle and frizzy. It removes all pigment from your hair and thus makes it white or yellowish. You will require bleach powder and 20 or 40 volume lightener if you have decided for bleaching your hair.
